SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Broncos split their Saturday doubleheader against Westmont on the road, securing the series win and improving to 27-18 on the season and 10-7 in non-conference play.

Game 1: CPP 5, WC 1
The Broncos came out swinging in game one, collecting 14 hits with each of the top six batters in the lineup with two apiece.

Julian Angulo got the Broncos on the board in the top of the fifth inning, singling to right field to score
Jack Sanders for the game's first run.
Austin Duarte followed shortly after with a single through the right side, scoring Angulo for a 2-0 lead. The Warriors responded in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run to left field, their only run of the game.

CPP added insurance in the seventh with a Duarte groundout, pushing across Sanders to make it 3-1. Sanders has scored 44 times so far this season, leading the team and ranking third-most in the conference.

The Broncos plated two more in the eighth, thanks to a bases loaded wild pitch and a subsequent RBI fielder's choice, again off the bat of Duarte, to bring the score to 5-1.

Redshirt Junior
Matthew Leyva was dominant on the mound, going 6.0 innings and only allowing one run. The right-hander punched out a season-high eight batters on 83 pitches while issuing just one free pass. After allowing a single in the first, he threw three perfect frames including striking out the side in the fourth.

Geo Hernandez was sharp in 3.0 innings of work out of the bullpen, only allowing three hits and zero runs with one strikeout. Hernandez picked up the save, his second of the season.

The win marked the Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Department's 56
th road win of the academic year across all sports, breaking the department record of 55 set in 2014-15. Across baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball, the department is 56-19-2 in road contests in 2025-26.

Game 2: CPP 0, WC 12
The second game of the doubleheader got away from the Broncos, as Westmont exploded for a 12-0 win. CPP received a steady start from sophomore
Anthony Cosme, who worked 4.0 innings and allowed three runs while striking out two. The right-hander kept CPP within striking distance early, navigating through traffic and limiting Westmont to a single run in each of the second through fourth innings.

Cal Poly Pomona's offense fell asleep in the series finale, gathering a season-low two hits off the bats of
Gage Gonzales and
Sebastian Casillas. The team was held hitless in the final five innings of the game, as the Westmont pitching staff struck out eight Bronco batters. Â

The Warriors broke the game open in the fifth and sixth innings, combining for nine runs, including a six-run sixth that put the game well out of reach. CPP utilized multiple arms out of the bullpen down the stretch, with
Andrew Dusablon recording a strikeout in relief.

The game marked the team's first time being shut out since losing 8-0 to Colorado Mesa on February 7
th.

The Broncos will return home on Thursday, April 30
th, at 6:00 PM for their final series of the regular season against Cal State San Marcos. Thursday will also be senior night, where the program will recognize 13 seniors for their contributions to the program approximately 30 minutes before first pitch.

The first numerical NCAA regional rankings will be announced on Wednesday, where the Broncos will see where they stack up in the region as they eye a return to the NCAA Tournament. The team was listed in the alphabetical rankings last week.
