SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The men's track and field team turned in a competitive and well-balanced performance on the men's side on Friday at the CCAA Championships, remaining in second place in the standings with 63 points.

The Broncos made an impact in the distance events, where Jimmy Guerrero led the way with a fifth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase, earning four team points. He was joined by Micah Chandler, who added two more points with a seventh-place effort, giving Cal Poly Pomona a valuable boost in the standings.

In the field, Isaiah Baca delivered one of the top performances of the day, placing second in the triple jump with a mark of 14.20 meters to secure eight team points. His 18 points so far this weekend marks the most of any male athlete in the conference. Meanwhile, Sam Coupland showcased his versatility in the decathlon, finishing fourth overall to contribute five additional points to the team total.

On the track, the Broncos showed strong depth in the prelims. Jayden Newkirk led a group of six Cal Poly Pomona sprinters in the 200 meters, advancing with the seventh-fastest time. In the 110-meter hurdles, Harry Chen paced a deep contingent of Broncos, with multiple athletes posting competitive marks. Trajan Cephas also advanced in the 800 meters, continuing his strong season with a top-two performance out of 23 runners.

Despite Chico State's strong lead with 114 points, just over 50 points more than the Green & Gold, the Broncos' performance on Friday put them in a good position for a strong finish tomorrow.
