Baseball to Make 17th Appearance in NCAA Tournament

5/10/2026 9:00:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - Cal Poly Pomona baseball will make its 17th appearance on the national stage, receiving an at-large bid into the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the West Region. They will travel to Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego for the regional tournament taking place May 14-16th at Carroll B. Land Stadium.

The winner of each three-team regional will face off next weekend, May 22-23rd, in a best-of-three Super Regional. The winner of that series will claim the West Region title and advance to the DII College World Series in Cary, North Carolina, where the final eight teams will compete for the national title.

Seaside Bracket
1. Cal State Monterey Bay
4. Cal State San Marcos
5. Northwest Nazarene

2. Point Loma
3. Cal Poly Pomona
6. Cal State San Bernardino

This season, Cal Poly Pomona has a 30-23 overall record while finishing third in the CCAA standings with an 18-14 conference record. The team had the ninth-toughest strength of schedule in the nation, including two wins over Colorado Mesa, who enters the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 ranked team in the country.

Just yesterday, the Broncos finished runner-up in the CCAA Tournament to, ironically, Cal State San Bernardino. The Inland Empire rivals will meet on Thursday for a rematch of the CCAA Tournament Championship, as they are 5-5 in their past 10 meetings. This will be the first time the two teams have ever faced each other in the NCAA Tournament.

The Broncos have now made the NCAA Tournament 10 times under Head Coach Randy Betten, including nine of the past 11 full seasons. The Broncos are one of the more successful programs in Division II baseball history with the third-most national titles at three (1976, 1980, 1983). However, a West Region team has not hoisted the trophy since St. Mary's (TX) did so in 2001, and the last active West Region school to win the national title was Chico State in 1999. The Broncos look to become the first team from the West Region in a quarter century to break that streak.

Game Schedule
The No. 3 seeded Broncos will face No. 6 seed Cal State San Bernardino this Thursday, May 14th at 11:00 AM. If they win, they will advance to Friday's game at 12:00 PM. If they lose, they will immediately play in an elimination game against No. 2 seed Point Loma at 2:00 PM (this would be an elimination game only for the loser of Game 1, not Point Loma). The double elimination format will then continue on Friday and Saturday, with matchups depending on the results from Thursday.

How to Watch
The NCAA baseball tournament will be streamed on the NCAA Championships Pass. Division II joined the free streaming initiative for the 2025-26 academic year, giving fans access to more than 1,200 championship games across Divisions II and III. Building on Division III's successful model, Division II championships not covered by existing TV agreements will stream on a centralized Hudl-powered platform, making it easier for families, alumni and fans to follow their teams. This expansion significantly boosts visibility for Division II student-athletes and programs nationwide. Watch HERE.
