LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Cal Poly Pomona volleyball program continues to excel both on the court and in the classroom, earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the seventh consecutive year.
 
The Broncos have now received the prestigious honor every year since the 2019-20 academic year, marking the program's seventh straight recognition and giving Cal Poly Pomona the sixth-longest active AVCA Team Academic Award streak among NCAA Division II West Region institutions.
 
Presented annually by the AVCA, the Team Academic Award recognizes volleyball programs that maintain a year-long team grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. During the 2025-26 academic year, a record 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams earned the distinction.
 
"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."

Within Cal Poly Pomona Athletics, the volleyball program has posted the highest team grade-point average among all Bronco sports in five of the past seven academic years, earning the department's Team Academic Excellence Award at the annual Night of Excellence.
 
The latest recognition continues a culture of academic excellence within the Bronco volleyball program. By extending its streak to seven consecutive years, Cal Poly Pomona remains among the West Region's most consistent performers in the classroom while continuing to compete at a high level in NCAA Division II.
 
The AVCA Team Academic Award honors volleyball programs across all collegiate divisions and high school levels that demonstrate a sustained commitment to academic achievement. Teams earning the award have successfully balanced the demands of competition with excellence in the classroom throughout the academic year.
