LEXINGTON – Cal Poly Pomona senior right side hitter
Sarah Ybarra has been named the AVCA Division II National Player of the Week, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Tuesday.
The honor marks the third time Ybarra has earned the prestigious national award, making her the first player in Cal Poly Pomona women's volleyball history to be selected as the AVCA Division II National Player of the Week three times in her career.
The La Habra native previously earned the honor during the 2024 and 2025 seasons, becoming the Broncos' second two-time recipient, after Daisy Duke picked up the honor twice in 2022 and 2023. Ybarra's latest selection gives her sole possession of the program record for most National Player of the Week honors.
Ybarra helped lead the Broncos to a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Bronco Classic, recording 46 kills, 25 digs, five service aces and six blocks across 10 sets. She averaged 4.60 kills, 2.50 digs, 0.50 service aces and 0.60 blocks per set, while hitting .358 for the weekend.
The senior opened the weekend with 11 kills against Central Washington before posting 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage against Western Washington. She capped the weekend with a season-high 19-kill performance against Simon Fraser, adding eight digs and two blocks in a 3-1 victory.
Following the strong weekend with three wins against nationally-ranked opponents, the Broncos jumped into the AVCA Division II Top 25 poll with a No. 17 ranking on Monday.

Ybarra and the Broncos return to action this week as Cal Poly Pomona opens conference play against Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday at 5:00 PM in Kellogg Arena.
