Biography

As a Junior in 2014: Started in 12-of-21 games played... Drew six walks... Grounded into just three double plays in 43 at bats... Provided four runs batted in while crossing the plate four times himself. 

As a Sophomore in 2013: Compiled a batting average of .351 during his sophomore season... Appeared in 23 games and made eight starts... Went 3-for-5 at the plate in a non-conference game against Azusa Pacific... Collected three hits in six at-bats during the final series of the season against Cal State East Bay at Scolinos Field.

As a Freshman in 2012: Batted .247 as a freshman with 19 hits in 77 at-bats... Recorded a fielding percentage of 1.000... In his second game as a Bronco, a CPP home win over Saint Martin's, he knocked an inside-the-park homerun... On that play, he sent a line drive deep into centerfield and the Saint Martin's outfielder dove for it but came up empty-handed, allowing Salgado to race around the bases for the inside-the-park homer... In a March 8 road game at Cal State Dominguez Hills, he went 4-for-5 with two runs and an RBI to raise his batting average to its season-high mark of .370... Continued his training with a summer stint in the Hawaii Collegiate League... With the Hawaii Aliis, he batted .354 in 27 games played while collecting eight doubles and four triples.

High School: A 2011 graduate of Glendora High School... Earned Most Valuable Player honors for the Baseline League after the 2011 campaign... During that senior season, he batted .457 with five homeruns and 29 runs batted in... In nearly half of Glendora's games in 2011, he picked up multiple hits... His junior year also finished strong as well, hitting .364 to help the Tartans capture a CIF championship.

Personal: Born Jan. 24, 1993... Son of Al and Pam Salgado... Mother is a Cal Poly Pomona graduate... Father is an Arizona State alum and competed collegiately in athletics for the Sun Devils... Uncle Larry Gonzalez played in the California Angels' baseball organization... Has five younger siblings: Ashlyn, Cailynn, Jordan, A.J. and Allison... Communication major... Enjoys spending time outdoors and hanging out with friends and family... Favorite pro athlete is Derek Jeter... Favorite pro team is the New York Yankees... Aspires to play baseball professionally or become a firefighter.
