Biography
As a Redshirt Junior in 2010: At the CCAA Championships hosted by UC San Diego in early May, she won the hammer throw at 168-3 to improve upon her school record by more than four feet (163-10 in 2008)... In other events, she recorded a shot put mark of 38-3 on March 6 in Turlock, Calif., and she posted a discus distance of 139-9 on Feb. 27 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
As a Junior in 2009: Competed in season-opening event (dual at UC San Diego)… Granted medical redshirt.
As a Sophomore in 2008: Selected to the CPP "Scholar-Ballers" list for holding a grade-point average over 3.40 during the 2007-08 school year... Established the school record in the hammer throw (163-10) that met an NCAA provisional mark… Placed third in the CCAA hammer (154-11), fourth in the shot (38-4 ¼) and fourth in the discus (128)… Season-best 139-0 in the discus and 39-5 in the shot.
As a Freshman in 2007: Competed as a freshman and posted marks of hammer throw (147-5), discus (121-5) and shot put (38-6)… Placed seventh in the CCAA discus (121-5), fourth in the hammer (147-5) and sixth in the shot put (37-5).
High School: A 2005 graduate of Chaffey High School, where she earned the Jim Brulte Leadership Award in 2003 and 2005… Principal’s Honor Roll member from 2003-05… Won league championships in the shot put in 2003 and ’04 and discus from 2003-’05… Best marks include: shot put (38-4) and discus (123-0)… Competed in basketball.
Personal: Daughter of Jose and Rosa Tejada… Art major… Enjoys drawing, painting, reading, listening to music, hiking and helping others in her free time… Active member in student-based Bronco Athletic Association… Favorite pro sports team is the Los Angeles Lakers and favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant... Aspires to change the world through physical education and fine art.
