We are seeking up to three (3) candidates for each semester.
This is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity that will offer selected interns with experience in a collegiate strength and conditioning environment. Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) is a nationally recognized and highly competitive NCAA Division II athletics program with 11 intercollegiate sports. Selected candidates will be required to work a minimum of 15-20 hours a week with availability beginning August 17 through December 13, 2019.
The daily responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting in the design and implementation of all aspects of strength and conditioning for CPP athletic teams, assisting with the supervision and execution of strength and conditioning programs for all 11 teams. All responsibilities will be performed under the direct supervision of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach or a staff CSCS Certified Graduate Assistant. Additional professional development and educational opportunities will be available throughout the semester. Cal Poly Pomona’s Strength and Conditioning Internship Program is a valuable pathway to guide and assist future coaches in the profession of collegiate strength and conditioning.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, NSCA-CSCS Certification (or working towards), CPR/AED Certified, a strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field, current NSCA-CSCS Certification, previous coaching experience in collegiate, professional, high school or private setting, relevant certifications such as USAW, CSCCA, FMS, etc.
Qualified candidates, who are selected as a potential intern, will be required to complete a full back ground check prior to full acceptance.
