Erik Riedel enters his second season in 2012 as an assistant on Randy Betten's coaching staff. During the 2009 and 2010 campaigns, Riedel was a key component of the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team as the starting shortstop. Now, he assists the Broncos with a variety of assignments, including on-field instruction, practice organization and summer camps.

In 2010, Riedel started 50 games and batted .318 while tallying 192 at-bats. During 2009, he appeared and started in 45 games, while hitting .346.

Prior to his time with the Broncos, Riedel studied and competed at Santa Rosa Junior College, he was named a All-Big 8 First Team selection as a sophomore while hitting .325 overall. As a freshman in 2007, he batted .308.

A graduate of Maria Carrillo High School and a Santa Rosa, Calif., native, Erik is the son of Mitch Riedel and Diane Kraus.

Currently, Erik is finishing up his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology.
