A former center fielder for Cal Poly Pomona, Jimmy "Kimo" Ramos begins the 23rd year of his third stint as a member of the Bronco coaching staff. The 2026 season marks his 55th year of coaching overall, and 43rd year coaching with the Broncos. Ramos' #1 became the second number retired by the CPP baseball program, joining #7 John Scolinos on the outfield fence on February 2, 2017.

Entering the 2026 season, Ramos has been on the coaching staff for 1,159 wins, and has coached in 65.6% of all Cal Poly Pomona baseball games ever played.

In November 2012, Ramos managed the Philippines national team at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) qualifying tournament. Earlier in 2012, Ramos worked for Major League Baseball International at the MLB Academy in Changzhou, China.

Ramos played for the Broncos in 1970-71 and then began a coaching career that has included time at Mt. San Antonio College, Fullerton Junior College and Esperanza High School. Ramos coached the freshman and junior varsity teams at Cal Poly Pomona from 1972-76 and then went to Mt. SAC for one season. He became the head coach at Esperanza for three seasons from 1978-80 before returning to Cal Poly Pomona, where he stayed for the next 15 years.

He was then an assistant coach at Mt. SAC again from 1996-2000 and went to Fullerton Junior College from 2000-03, before finally returning back to the Broncos in 2004. 

Ramos has also been a Major League Baseball envoy coach for 16 years and has gone to Australia, New Zealand, Mongolia, Japan, China, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines putting on clinics and helping develop the game of baseball.

He has been married to his wife Liza for 50 years. The couple has a daughter, Gina, who is married to Ruben Martinez, and a son, Jason, whose wife is Donna. Ramos is a grandfather to Liam, Paige, and Ady.
