As a Junior in 2013: Maintained the team's lowest earned run average out of CPP's full-time relievers... With a 3.38 ERA and 1-1 record, he totaled 18.2 innings and struck out 18 batters... Recorded his first career win as a Bronco on March 1 at UC San Diego... Two weeks later, he threw two scoreless innings at San Francisco State.

At Palomar College: As a sophomore, he did not allow a single run... In 2011, he pitched 9.1 innings while posting a 3.86 earned run average.

High School: A 2010 graduate of Cathedral Catholic High School... Through his time on the varsity baseball squad, he went 4-0 record with a 2.87 earned run average. 

Personal: Born Nov. 30, 1991… Son of Richard and Janet Shanks… Industrial Engineering major… Favorite sports teams are the San Diego Padres and the San Diego Chargers… Favorite professional athlete is Justin Verlander… Enjoys going to the beach, golfing and playing basketball in his free time… Aspires to become a mechanical engineer.
