High School: Attended Ivanhoe Grammar School in Melbourne, Australia... Earned All-Australian High School First Team selection in 2009 as a captain... Helped the Victorian state team to national titles in 2006, 2008 and 2010... Competed in the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) in 2010 and finished the season as the league's seventh-best scorer (14.8 points per game)... Playing for the Nunawading Spectres, he earned a spot on the All-SEABL First Team after scoring more than 20 points on five occasions.

Personal: Son of Jon and Dale Steel... Has a brother named Matt and also a sister Amy, who plays netball for the Australian national team... International Business major...
