Gil Aguirre

Gil Aguirre enters his second season in 2014 as an assistant coach for the Cal Poly Pomona men’s soccer team. Aguirre serves as the squad's goalkeeping instructor and coach.

In the final game of the Broncos' 2013 season, senior goalkeeper Andrew Todd recorded his eighth career shutout while setting the individual program record for single-season goals against average at 0.83.

Prior to joining the Broncos, Aguirre served as the goalkeeper coach at Pierce College in Los Angeles and was a varsity coach for the men’s soccer team at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino. He also utilized his coaching abilities at the Steve Sampson Soccer Academy-Global Sport Institute.

Aguirre spent time playing for the Cal South State team, which regards itself as the premier youth soccer organization in the United States. He also played professional football for Club Atletico Monarcas Morelia in Mexico and for the Chivas USA Academy.
