Jose Garcia begins his fourth season in 2016 for Cal Poly Pomona as a program associate for the men’s soccer team.

In his third season with the team in 2015, CPP secured the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament and West Region titles while concluding the season 17-3-3 with the program's first-ever National Runner-Up finish. The total of 17 victories marks the second-straight season that the Green and Gold have boasted the program record in wins.

In the 2015 postseason, besides CPP locking in the CCAA Tournament title, the Broncos won the program's first-ever NCAA postseason game with a 1-0 win over Cal State L.A. They went on to post a 4-1 NCAA postseason record, including victories over three nationally-ranked teams.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities at CPP, Garcia also serves as the men's soccer head coach at El Camino College Compton Center. He's held that role since 2012 and previously coached the women's team there.

In 2014, Garcia is coaching two club teams: a CDA Slammers Boys' U14 team ranked 14th in the state and a Sherman Oaks Extreme Boys' U15 team ranked 22nd in the state. He's also the head coach at Gahr High School in Cerritos.

Garcia has 10 years of coaching experience at the club level, including three years with the Chula Vista Rangers and seven with Strikers FC. Through that time, he has helped develop more than 40 players to the college level. His coaching background also includes stints at Rio Hondo College in 2004-05 and Long Beach Poly High School in 2009-10.

Garcia was a member of the Cerritos College soccer team in 2003 and played in the Coast Soccer League for nine years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology at San Diego State in 2009 and is working on completing his master’s degree in Physical Education Administration at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

He holds a U.S. soccer National B coaching license and an (AFA) Argentina Futbol Federation National Coaching license.
