As a Junior in 2013: Led the team in minutes with 1,614... Helped CPP's 2013 team set the program's single season record for goals against average at 0.85... Received recognition as an All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Honorable Mention selection... Started in and played in all 18 games... Recorded two assists, including one against Cal State Dominguez Hills to equalize the score at 2-2 in a game that ended up being a draw.

At El Camino College: Was the team MVP in his first year with the squad… Received the Coaches Award in his second year and earned a spot on the All-South Coast Conference First Team… Winner of the Scholar-Baller Award, which recognizes student athletes who achieve a 3.0 grade point average or higher.

High School: A 2007 graduate of Washington Prep High School... Served as the Captain and MVP of the men’s soccer team his senior year…helped the Generals of Washington Prep High School win their first ever Marine League Conference Championship…Honored with the Most Scholastic Award.

Personal: Son of Jose and Lupe Ortega… Kinesiology major with a Pedagogy option… Enjoys spending time with his daughter, watching movies and going out with friends in his spare time… Favorite pro athlete is Kobe Bryant… Favorite sports teams are FC Barcelona, and the Los Angeles Lakers… Aspires to graduate from Cal Poly Pomona, win a national championship with the soccer team, and continue playing soccer professionally.
