Tyler Frierson is in her third season as an assistant coach on Danelle Bishop's Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball staff in 2024-25.
Over the past two seasons, Frierson has aided the Broncos to back-to-back CCAA Tournament and NCAA Tournament appearances, including a 38-21 (.644) overall record. The Broncos have also seen six players receive All-CCAA honors, as well as Kalaya Buggs being named a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention.
In her second year at CPP, the Broncos went 20-10 overall and 15-7 in CCAA games, while making their 29th NCAA Tournament Appearance. Four Broncos earned All-CCAA honors, including Sydney Nelson being named CCAA Freshman of the Year.
In 2022-23, Frierson aided the Broncos to a successful campaign with records of 18-11 overall and 14-8 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). CPP tied for fourth in the league table before falling in back-to-back postseason meetings with nationally-ranked eventual West Region champion and national quarterfinalist Cal State Dominguez Hills, first in the CCAA Tournament semifinals, and then in a first-round contest of the NCAA Division II Championship.
Frierson played four seasons at the NCAA Division I level at Wright State, as well as one season at the University of Memphis. While a member of the Raiders, Frierson was named to the All-Horizon League Third Team, Horizon League All-Tournament Team, and 2X Horizon League All-Defensive Team. She is among the Top 10 in program history in games played, field goal percentage, total rebounds, and blocked shots. The Long Beach native also led the Raiders in rebounding in both the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
