Frederica Bush enters her fifth season as an assistant coach for throws with the Cal Poly Pomona Track and Field team in 2027.
During her time at CPP, Bush has played a key role in the program's success, helping guide the women's team to three CCAA championships and the men's team to two conference titles. During his tenure, Broncos student-athletes have earned 48 CCAA Athlete of the Week honors and produced 43 All-America performances.
Before joining the Broncos, she spent seven years as the throws coach at Roosevelt High School in Eastvale.
Before her stint at Roosevelt, she spent 15 years as a throws coach for the Division I University of California, Riverside. Each year she coach at UCR, Bush coached her team to the NCAA Div. I Championships. She had several All- Americans and Big West Champions on her roster. Bush is most proud of coaching several walk-ons who would become Big West Champions.
Bush was the NCAA Division II Champion in the shot-put in 1992 and held the record for eight years. She also was an All- American in the shot put and discus from 1989-1992. She also competed in the Olympics trials in 1992 and 1996.
She is a graduate of Cal State Bakersfield where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Journalism. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in Education from Claremont Graduate University.
Bush has also been an educator for the past 30 years and is a mother to twins.
