Ian Jennings

Ian Jennings enters his fifth season as the Broncos' horizontal jumps and multi-events coach in 2027.

Since joining the Cal Poly Pomona staff, Jennings has played a key role in the program's success, helping guide the women's team to three CCAA championships and the men's team to two conference titles. During his tenure, Broncos student-athletes have earned 48 CCAA Athlete of the Week honors and produced 43 All-America performances.

He started his coaching career at Orange Coast College in January 2007. He was the men and women's track and field assistant coach from 2008 to 2017. His last year coaching at OCC was in 2017 after coaching multiple new school records.
 
After his coaching stint at OCC, he coached at Golden West College in Huntington Beach. He was the men's and women's track and field assistant coach from 2017 to 2021. While coaching at Golden West College, Jennings also coached at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa from 2015 to 2021.
 
During Jennings' short time at Vanguard, his accomplishments include, coaching two NAIA National Champions (Men's Indoor Heptathlon - 2018 and Women's High Jump - 2019), two NAIA Nationals Runner Ups (Women's Triple Jump - 2019 and Women's High Jump - 2020), three athletes earning All-American honors a total of 13 times, one of whom is a seven-time All-American (the most in Vanguard history), and another the first Women's National Champion in school history as well as four school records and multiple conference champions.
 
Currently, he continues to coach at the USATF Junior Olympics.
 
As a student-athlete Jennings is currently a top three triple jump mark holders at Cal State Fullerton. He was a Scholar-Athlete and NCAA West Regional Qualifier.
 
Jennings received his associates degree in liberal studies in May 2001. He then went on to receive his bachelors in Radio, TV, and Film from Cal State Fullerton in May 2004.  He received his USATF Level 2 certificate in August 2018 and is certified in strength and conditioning.
