Anthony H. Kim, Ph.D, was appointed as the Faculty Athletics Representative for Cal Poly Pomona Athletics in August 2025.
Dr. Kim is a Professor of Marketing at Cal Poly Pomona, where he has served since 2013. He earned his Ph.D. in Marketing with a minor in Statistics from the University of Georgia and holds degrees from Central Michigan University and Seoul National University (SNU). Dr. Kim’s research explores internet word-of-mouth and social network analysis, with publications in top journals including the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and Sport Marketing Quarterly.
He teaches a wide array of undergraduate and MBA courses, including international and sport marketing, and leads a faculty-led study abroad program on Korea’s entertainment and sports industries. Before entering academia, he worked for Samsung and currently serves as CEO of a real estate firm.
A former varsity swimmer and national snowboarding team member (1998 Nagano Winter Olympics), Dr. Kim remains passionate about supporting student-athletes. He enjoys snowboarding and skiing with his wife, Dr. Soyun Im (Accounting department, Cal Poly), and their three water polo-playing children.
