Traci Dahl is in her sixth season (seventh year) as the head coach of the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball program in 2025.
It is Dahl's ninth year with CPP, as she spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons as the associate head coach, helping guide the Broncos to a combined 37-18 record during coaching great Rosie Wegrich's final seasons. In Dahl's five seasons at the helm, the Broncos are 102-39 (.723) overall and 65-24 (.730) in CCAA games, and are coming off four consecutive trips to both the CCAA Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.
The Broncos experienced their most successful season in program history in 2024, going 25-4 while winning their first outright CCAA regular season title. They set a program record with 17 CCAA wins in the regular season, had the second-longest winning streak in program history at 18 consecutive matches, and had the longest stretch of 3-0 sweeps across eight straight matches. The 2024 squad reached as high as No. 3 in the national rankings, marking the highest in program history, while Dahl was named both CCAA Coach of the Year and AVCA West Region Coach of the Year. The team concluded its season hosting the NCAA West Regionals at the No. 1 seed, the first time they have hosted under the current playoff format.
On November 16th, 2024, Dahl recorded her 100th career win in the Green & Gold, as the team defeated San Francisco State 3-1 on the road. The win also secured the team's first outright CCAA regular season title in program history, while also earning the No. 1 seed in the CCAA Tournament.
Dahl led CPP to CCAA Tournament title on November 12, 2022, with a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Sonoma State inside The Sports Center in San Marcos, marking the first in program history.
During Dahl's tenure as head coach, the CPP volleyball program has seen 29 CCAA Players of the Week (the most in the CCAA during that period), 26 All-CCAA honorees, two CCAA Players of the Year, three CCAA Newcomers of the Year, a CCAA Freshman of the Year, a CCAA Setter of the Year, three AVCA National Players of the Week, 10 AVCA All-West Region honorees, and 10 AVCA All-Americans - including a school record three All-Americans during both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Dahl came to CPP after a successful stint at Indiana State University where she spent eight seasons before making the change to CPP. Dahl's teams have had a history of strong performances both on and off the court. In 2016, the Sycamores received their 19th-straight AVCA Team Academic Award, the longest streak in NCAA history, for having a cumulative team GPA of 3.3 or higher. She coached 12 All Missouri Valley Conference players while at Indiana State.
The Sycamores posted back-to-back winning seasons in 2014 and 2015 while Dahl became the winningest head coach in Indiana State history. The Sycamores advanced to the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in both 2011 and 2014. She finished her career at Indiana State with 101 wins.
As head coach of the Sycamores' DI volleyball program, Dahl was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the team from travel, budgets, hiring assistants and fundraising. While also serving head coach, Dahl operated her own club, Indiana Elite Volleyball, from 2009-2016.
Dahl served as an Assistant Coach at Cerritos College before heading to Hofstra University in Long Island, New York where she spent the 2004 season. After Hofstra, she worked as an Assistant Coach and Kinesiology Professor at Cal State Fullerton from 2005-2008.
Dahl started her college playing career at Cerritos College, where her team won a state championship in 1992. That year she was named The California State Player of the Year. She was a two-time First Team All American as well as two-time South Coast Conference MVP. After Cerritos College she transferred to Long Beach State. During her playing career at Long Beach, Dahl was a two-time All-Big West selection and a second-team AVCA All-American in 1994. In the 1993 season, Dahl was part of the 49ers' national championship team.
Dahl earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Long Beach State before getting her master's degree in Education from National University and a second master's degree in Recreation and Sport Management at Indiana State. She was inducted into the Cerritos College Hall of Fame in March of 2012.
