Competing on one of track and field's grandest stages, Cal Poly Pomona distance star Tiffany Dinh put on quite a show Thursday.

The first of six Broncos to compete at the Mt. SAC Relays last week, Dinh put in a strong "B" provisional qualifying mark to heighten her chances of earning a spot at the NCAA Division II National Championships to be held in Pueblo, Colo., from May 23 through May 25.

Late Thursday night, Dinh placed second in the 10,000-meter race with a time of 35:00.56. That mark shatters the school record, previously set at 35:10.9 by Sherie Roach in 1987. Thursday's mark also represents a 45-second improvement on Dinh's personal best, which was the 35:45.87 she ran last year at Cal State L.A. to earn a spot at nationals.
