POMONA
– The combination of Chico State's Makenzie Snyder and Jessica Leek was too much for Cal Poly Pomona to overcome in Friday night's 3-0 loss in California Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball at Darlene May Gym.

The Broncos, who lost their fourth straight match, are 8-14 overall and 5-10 in the CCAA, while 25th ranked Chico State is 19-5, 10-4.

Junior Courtney Alberi led the Broncos with nine kills in the 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 defeat. The Broncos were outstanding on the block, however, with 18 block assists. Senior Elizabeth Diaz led the Broncos with five block assists, while freshman Lindsey Poulos had four in just one game played.

Cal Poly Pomona battled from the beginning and grabbed a 21-20 lead in Game 1. But the Wildcats fought back with five straight points – with kills from Leek and Snyder, an ace from Leek and two attack errors from the Broncos.

In Game 2, the Broncos trailed 21-17, but rallied to get within a point at 21-20. A kill from Alberi, two service aces from Audrey Driscoll and an attack error from Chico State got CPP back into the game.

But Snyder had two kills down the stretch and Chico went into intermission with a 25-21 Game 2 win.

The Broncos led on three 6-4 early in Game 3, but Chico State grabbed the lead for good at 9-8. It would
be a struggle, however, as CPP got to within a point at 14-13 and 15-14 – both on Kristin McNeese's kills.

But after an attack error from Chico State put the game at 16-15 Chico went on a 3-0 run and would earn the Game 3 and match victory.

Chico State finished the night with a .325 attack percentage (52 kills/15 errors/114 attacks).

The Broncos return to Darlene May Gym on Saturday night when they play host to Cal State Stanislaus. First serve is 7 p.m.
