ARCATA — Cal Poly Pomona cruised to a 3-1 victory (25-16, 25-23, 22-25, 25-16) over Humboldt State in California Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball Friday night.
The win improved the Broncos' record to 10-14 overall and 7-10 in California Collegiate Athletic Association matches. Humboldt State dropped its fifth straight, and is 7-18 overall and 3-14.
Elizabeth Diaz and
Kristin McNeese led Cal Poly Pomona , finishing with 14 and 10 kills, respectively. Setter
Jasmine Davis finished with 36 assists and 15 digs, one short of
Audrey Driscoll, who had a match-high 16.
The Broncos fired a collectivce .316 in the opening game to set the tone for the victory. CPP threw down 15 kills with just three attack errors to win Game 1.
Game 2 was tighter, but CPP again got the job done. HSU came back after intermission with a tight win, before the Broncos gained control in the final game.
In Game 4, the Broncos grabbed a 20-6 lead and left little doubt in earning the game and match victory.
CPP faces Sonoma State on Saturday night with first serve at 7 p.m.
