No. 18 Broncos upset at the hands of Seattle Pacific

CPP loses three-game match to the visiting Falcons

– Senior Elizabeth Diaz (Escondido) led No. 18 Cal Poly Pomona with 12 kills and sophomore Kristin McNeese (Torrance) enjoyed her third straight double-figure kills match with 10, but it wasn't enough as unranked Seattle Pacific upset the Broncos 3-0 in Southern California Classic play Saturday at Darlene May Gym.

The Falcons' 25-23, 25-14, 25-15 victory marked the first nonconference home loss for Cal Poly Pomona since losing 3-0 to Chaminade in the 2004 season.

The Broncos had difficulty on the attack as they committed 27 errors in the three-game match. The Broncos had 29 kills, but were off-set by the errors as they finished with a.022 attack percentage.

Senior Jasmine Davis (Pomona) had 26 assists and Diaz led with seven digs.

The Falcons (2-1) had just 13 errors in the match and had eight service aces. Priscilla Collings led SPU with 10 kills. They were 33/13/80 for a .250 attack percentage that included a 15/2/26 in Game 2.

Cal Poly Pomona takes to the road next week as it plays in the Skyhawk Invitiational at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. They open against Colorado- Colorado Springs on Friday and face the host school later that afternoon.
