POMONA – A combined total of 31 shots resulted in just one goal Friday night and visiting UC San Diego got the upper-hand in a 1-0 win over host Cal Poly Pomona in California Collegiate Athletic Association men's soccer.
Reserve Kasra Sarabakhsh drove home the eventual game-winner on a feed from David Bakal in the game's 22nd minute as UCSD improved ot 4-1-4 overall and 1-1-3 in the CCAA.
Cal Poly Pomona is 3-5-0 and 1-4 as it prepares for Sunday's game against visiting Cal State East Bay. Game time is set for approximately 2 p.m. as it is the second game of the doubleheader with the women beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The Broncos out-shot UCSD 20-11 with five SOG. Senior Miguel Abascal and junior Tyler Reinhart each had two SOG, but the Broncos couldn't get the ball past Tritons GK Peter Akman.
Sarabakhsh punched in the ball to the right side from the left and got it past Broncos goalkeeper Thomas Ryan for the game's only tally.
Akman made four saves on the night for the shutout.
