Box Score | HAYWARD, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team, ranked 10th nationally this week, couldn't capitalize on 10 hits Friday as the Broncos suffered a 6-3 loss to Cal State East Bay in the season opener in Hayward.
The CPP bullpen kept the margin within reach as it allowed zero earned runs through 4.2 innings. The Broncos' offense couldn't break through against Pioneers' starter Nick Hudson though. He went 8.1 innings and allowed just the three scores.
Middle infielders
Nick Cooksey and
Trevor Magno both turned in two-hit games in Friday's contest.
The two teams resume their series Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
