Box Score | POMONA, Calif. - As all of the lights get brighter and the pressure builds, Jada Blackwell continues to elevate her game.

On Saturday night in Kellogg Gym, Blackwell scored a career-high 35 points to lift top-seeded Cal Poly Pomona to an 89-80 victory over Chico State. The result moves the Broncos in the Sweet Sixteen, where they'll meet Montana State Billings for a 7 p.m. home game to decide the West Region champion. The winner will earn a spot at the Elite Eight in Erie, Pa.

With CPP capturing the regular season conference title but losing twice to Chico State along the way, questions may have lingered leading up to Saturday's game about whether the Wildcats had the Broncos figured out.

CPP left little doubt about which team is the best in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and on Monday, the Broncos will get a chance to be the best in the West. On the other side of the regional bracket, Montana has improved to 25-7 with postseason wins over Academy of Art and Simon Fraser.

Blackwell and Ariel Marsh scored 60 of the team's 89 points Saturday. Marsh knocked down five three-pointers to finish with 25 points. CPP trailed by seven at intermission but scored 52 in the second half to finish with a season-high 89.

The Broncos were outrebounded 40-31 but junior forward Ashley Lovett certainly helped the cause. The Murrieta native ended up with 13 rebounds, 10 of which came on the defensive end.

Chico's largest lead came at the 16:42 mark when an Analise Riezebos layup pushed the score to 51-43. Marsh started 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and her fourth trey followed the Riezebos basket to jumpstart the Broncos' offense. Four minutes later, Marsh knocked down another triple to give CPP a lead it wouldn't relinquish the rest of the way.

At the five-minute mark, Lauren Goecke sank a three-pointer off a Tyler Woods assist. That brought the crowd to its feet as the basket widened the Broncos' advantage to double digits.

In looking toward Monday's matchup at Kellogg Gym, CPP is 4-0 all-time against Montana State Billings. The teams' most recent meeting came in March 2000 when the Broncos topped the Yellowjackets in a regional game held in Pomona.

The West Region champion will take on the Atlantic Region champion at the Elite Eight on March 25. Bloomsburg and Edinboro are playing for the Atlantic Region title on Monday at 4 p.m.
