Best Spirit: Montecito, Zeta Tau Alpha & Pi Kappa Phi

The Herd student fan club will be entering its fourth year of existence in the 2014-15 school year.

POMONA, Calif. – With an impressive 2013-14 year featuring several Cal Poly Pomona teams finishing among the best nationally, many on-campus organizations deserve recognition for lending tremendous support to the Broncos in terms of attendance and overall spirit.

The Herd student fan club announced three winners this week at the conclusion of the 2013-14 Spirit War. For the residence hall competition of attendance, Montecito Hall took home top honors. Pi Kappa Phi received the Spirit War trophy in the fraternity category while Zeta Tau Alpha captured the Spirit War honors among sororities.

"The school spirit was evident throughout the year and it helped make the university's 75th Anniversary celebration even greater," 2013-14 Herd President Kathleen Wong said. "The attendance numbers for the Spirit War were very close and it made for an exciting competition. Congratulations to Montecito, Pi Kappa Phi and Zeta Tau Alpha. We look forward to even greater participation next year."

Entering its fourth year of existence, The Herd will reveal its new member t-shirt design in July at the freshman and transfer orientation sessions. The student fan club will be led by 2014-15 Herd President Celina Tabuena, who served among the group's leadership last year as well.
