WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – For the second-consecutive year, Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics placed third in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup to match the program's best finish.

Broncos' women's basketball led the way, capturing the league's regular season title before eventually reaching the Final Four. Jada Blackwell starred for CPP, earning All-American and D-II All-Tournament Team honors.

A pair of Bronco squads finished second in the CCAA. Men's basketball went 22-7 overall and trailed league champion Cal State San Bernardino by just one win. CPP ranked No. 1 nationally in defense for the second-straight season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA postseason.

Broncos' men's cross country put together an impressive campaign, placing second at the CCAA Championships in Chico before finishing third at regionals to earn a spot at the NCAA D-II National Championships. Once at that final meet of the year, CPP posted an eighth-place finish for the program's top performance since 1997.

The Broncos' spring teams put together solid performances at the conference level as well. Baseball placed fourth to earn a spot at the CCAA Championships in Stockton. At the conference track and field meet in La Jolla, the CPP men finished third while the women took fourth.

With the final CCAA standings announced Wednesday, Chico State captured its fourth-consceutive Robert J. Hiegert Commissioner's Cup.

An institution's Hiegert Cup ranking is calculated using its top two Conference finishes in the fall, winter, and spring sports seasons, as well as the highest two other finishes, regardless of season. An institution's numerical finish for team sports is determined by regular season standings. Individual sports finishes are determined by finishes at the championship event.

Team sports are soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball. Individual sports are cross country, men's golf and track & field.
