ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - On Saturday evening, the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos dropped a three-set match to the Seawolves of Sonoma State.
The three sets were lost 25-17, 29-27, and 25-13, respectively. The loss evened CPP to 5-5 overall with a 3-4 record in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play.
The Broncos' kill leader for the night was Deanna Blaine, who tallied up a total of 13, which placed her third on tonight's leaderboard, edged out only by two Seawolves.
Blaine also led the team in attack percentage, with a .281 and was just behind Zoe Herrera in digs as her 15 were two less than Herrera's 17.
CPP made a valiant attempt in the second set as they made Sonoma State work for their points. The set went to the usual 25 points and beyond, with both teams going back-and-forth and Sonoma finally edging out the Broncos 29-27.
Christen Williams recorded three of the Broncos' six blocks of the night and Alexa Hasen accumulated two service aces.
Sonoma State's leader was Kelsey Hull, who completed nearly half of her attack attempts, getting a total of 15 kills with a .419 attack percentage.
The Broncos will continue their CCAA play on Thursday as they travel to San Bernardino to take on the Coyotes. CSUSB holds an 8-2 record, tallying up 5-1 in their conference play. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
