Broncos Secure 59-46 Victory Over Toros!

CARSON, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team secured their fourth-straight win on Friday night with a 59-46 victory over the Toros of CSU Dominguez Hills.
 
Junior Barry Bell provided 14 points for the Broncos with a 5-of-8 performance  including three successful shots from beyond the arc. Terrence Drisdom also secured 14 on a 6-for-10 showing and Rhon Mitchell's 3-for-4 tally with seven free throws added 13.
 
Earning the win, the Broncos remain in a two-way tie for first place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). They hold an overall 11-3 record which comprises of a 7-2 mark in conference.
 
The Toros continue to chase their first conference win as they have nine CCAA losses. They drop to a 4-11 tally overall on the season.
 
Once Drisdom put the Broncos first on the board, CPP never looked back. The green and gold squad secured seven-straight points at the beginning of the game, jumping out to an early 7-0 lead.
 
CPP provided a pair of eight-point sprees in the first half and at the end of the period led CSUDH 25-14.
 
The home squad pushed back a bit in the second half and reduced the Bronco lead to just six. Bell sank his second three and a couple more baskets gave CPP its largest run of the half.
 
In the waning minutes of the game, Mitchell and Bell recorded their final points, and a layup for the Toros with six seconds to play gave the game its 59-46 result.
 
The Broncos committed just nine turnovers while forcing 18 on CSUDH. CPP shot 48.8% in the game and sank 41.7% of threes, while holding the Toros to a 21.4% from past the arc.
 
Looking ahead to Saturday, the Broncos continue their road trip as they head to the Eagles Nest and challenge the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. CSULA was dealt a loss on Friday night as the Tritons bested them 67-56.
