Broncos Dealt Road Loss by CSULA, 58-56

LOS ANGELES - In a tough road matchup on Saturday night, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team was bested 58-56 by the Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles.

With the loss, the Broncos now hold an overall 11-4 tally on the season, which includes a 7-3 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The record brings CPP into a three-way tie for second in the conference.

CSULA carries a 5-5 CCAA record going forward and owns a 7-7 mark overall.

Through Saturday's game, two Broncos reached double figures in points. Jordan Faison led CPP, going 7-for-9 from the field and posting 16 points. He also secured five boards, as did Chad Haysbert and Terrence Drisdom.

Drisdom added 12 points along with one block and three steals.

Early on, the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 7-3 advantage. CPP came back, and the next few minutes saw a few lead changes.

A Quentin Taylor three-pointer pushed the Broncos up 15-12, and the visitors would hold the lead through the next 17 minutes. The halftime score stood at 29-24 in the Broncos' favor.

In the second half, Cal State L.A.'s LaBradford Franklin posted 11-straight points to give the home squad the tie and lead.

The remainder of the game only saw the Broncos tie the score, but never take the lead again. Franklin's 23 points boosted the Golden Eagles past CPP and one last free throw gave the game its final 58-56 result.

The Broncos return to action Friday when they host Humboldt State to start a four-game homestand.
