Broncos Host Jacks, Seawolves in Final Week

POMONA, Calif. – Heading into the final week of California Collegiate Athletic Association play, the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team has set its sights on the Humboldt State Jacks and the nationally-ranked Sonoma State Seawolves.

The Broncos' first match of the week will take place on Thursday as they host the Jacks at Kellogg Field for a 12:30 p.m. start. The Green and Gold currently hold an 8-5-2 overall record on the season thus far, complete with a 5-4-1 mark in conference play. The visiting Jacks will be heading to CPP with a CCAA tally of 5-3-2 en route to their season 9-5-2 record.

In the last meeting between the two squads the Broncos emerged as the victor, topping the hometown Jacks 2-0. This season, the Broncos are led in the goals category by Daisy Duran, who has recorded four thus far. With three goals of her own, accompanied by a tie for the team lead with three assists, freshman Sydney Yates leads the Broncos with nine total points.

After the Green and Gold host the Jacks, they will play their final regular season game of 2015 against the No. 9 Sonoma State Seawolves. Game time is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday Oct. 31.

The Seawolves have done a tremendous job thus far this season, posting a record of 11-1-3, complete with an undefeated 8-0-2 showing in the CCAA. Prior to playing visitor to the Broncos, the Sonoma squad will challenge the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday.

Last season's meeting between the Broncos and Seawolves ended in a 1-0 Green and Gold victory against then No. 15 ranked SSU. The all-time showdown between the two teams does lead slightly in the Seawolves' favor as they have won 18-of-29 meetings with the Broncos winning seven, and four games ending in a draw.

Saturday's contest at Kellogg Field will mark senior day for the Broncos as they celebrate the careers of 10 Broncos who are playing their final season of eligibility in 2015. Nicole Killigrew, Rachel Killigrew, Megan Kisslan, Stacey Atwater, Melissa Martinez, Amanda Gomez, Ariana Fleischman, Sam Jones, Reanne Macon, and Briana Nesbit are playing their final regular season game.

Fan are encouraged to take advantage of the game falling on Halloween as a costume contest will be held at halftime, the winner of which will receive a $50 giftcard redeemable on Cal Poly Pomona's campus.
