@cppwsoccer Heads North for Road Series

POMONA, Calif. – With a 5-3-1 overall record and an even 2-2 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team will head north to play the role of visitor to the Cal State East Bay Pioneers and the Stanislaus State Warriors.

The Broncos' first matchup will take place on Friday at 7 p.m. and will be between the Green and Gold and the Pioneers. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will take place at Pioneer Stadium in Hayward.

As the Broncos' host, the Pioneers currently have a 4-8 record on the season, complete with a 2-4 mark in conference play. Thus far at home they have won two of the five matchups, topping Cal State Monterey Bay and the Academy of Art.

Looking at the all-time battle between the two squads, the Broncos do have a slight advantage, having won 11 games to the Pioneers five, including three ties. The two teams met just once last season and the Green and Gold earned the 3-0 victory over the visitors to Kellogg Field. The three Bronco goals in the game were by 2015 returners Rachel Killigrew, Hailey James, and Lauren Miller.

After CPP challenges the Pioneers at their home field, they will head east to Turlock to put newly rebranded Stanislaus State (formerly Cal State Stanislaus) to the test. The Warriors currently hold a 3-2-1 conference tally en route to an overall mark of 7-3-1 on the season.

During the 2015 season, the Broncos and the Warriors played each other twice. The first meeting was on Oct. 12 and the Green and Gold topped the No. 7 nationally-ranked Stanislaus State squad. CPP scored a goal in the 66th minute and kept the Warriors scoreless. Alison Sauve, now on CPP's coaching staff scored the Broncos' goal.

All-time, the record between the two teams leans in CPP's favor, they have won 12-of-18 matches and Stanislaus won the other six.
