LA MIRADA, Calif.- The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team earned its first win of the 2015-16 season on Tuesday with a 61-51 victory over the Eagles of Biola University.

The contest, held at the Eagles home court in La Mirada, featured three Broncos with double-digit points. With the points were some stellar all-around performances by the Green and Gold squad.

The win improves the CPP team to an overall mark of 1-4 thus far this season. They will have one final non-conference game before heading into the start of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchups.

Leading the way offensively for the Broncos' squad was freshman Jordyn Shane. The Upland native provided a game-leading 13 points as she shot 2-for-4 from the field and drained 8-of-10 shots from the free throw line.

Just behind Shane with 12 points of her own was Erin Hagan. The junior secured her 12 points as well as three assists, and a game-leading three steals.  With the promising freshman class showing its skill, Jackie Ricketson was third on the Broncos with 11 points, a number that still topped any individual member of the hometown Eagles. Ricketson earned her 11 with 5-of-9 shots hitting their mark and a free throw tacked on.

Broncos' defensive standout Priscilla Brooks led all players with 17 total rebounds in the contest. The next nearest players, a pair of Eagles, pulled down seven apiece.

The Broncos proved hard to beat in the paint as they outscored Biola 26-16. The CPP squad also received 14 points from their bench en route to the final 61 points. The Green and Gold's defense limited the BU shooting game as just 28.6% of their shots found their mark.

In the first half, the Broncos scored 28 points, while limiting the Eagles to 21. They also bested the home team's shooting percentage by nearly 10%. In the first half, Brooks pulled down 12 of her 17 rebounds and her free throw with the score at 19-19 gave CPP the lead which the would carry through the rest of the game.

To round out the first half, the Broncos went on a 9-2 run that left them leading BU 28-21.

With 9-of-21 shots finding their mark, the Green and Gold improved their shooting percentage in the second half by nearly 10%. They also sank 14-of-20 free throws and recorded 20 rebounds.

CPP's largest lead in the game would come just after the start of the fourth quarter as a layup from Brooks put them in front by 19 points. The Eagles would pull back a little bit, but the game result would remain the same with the Broncos grabbing their first win of the season, and the final score at 61-51.

CPP will continue their road trip as they challenge Hope International in Fullerton on Saturday at 2 p.m. After the Broncos complete that game, they will return home for the first game of the CCAA regular season. The Golden Eagles of Cal State LA will make their way to Kellogg Arena to play visitor to the Broncos on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 5:30 p.m. The game marks the first of the day's doubleheader as they Bronco men will play after the women with a 7:30 start.
