Broncos Still Flawless After 91-57 Win

POMONA, Calif. – The undefeated Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team continued their stellar season with a 91-57 defeat of the Pioneers of Pacific Union on Saturday. The contest proved to be the Broncos' 11th-straight win.

Playing in their final game of the 2015 calendar year, the CPP squad dominated the court throughout the entire matchup. As a team, the Broncos shot 59.7% from the field along with a 7-for-19 mark from the three point line. Of shots taken inside the arc, the Green and Gold went 30-for-43 for an even more impressive 69.8%.

Leading the way for the Broncos offensively was Jordan Faison as the senior Lake Forest native tallied a game-high 24 points on an 11-for-14 performance. Faison's point tally included a three-pointer and a shot from the free throw line.

Two other members of the Green and Gold's squad tallied double-digit points in the contest as Quentin Taylor boasted 14 on a 6-for-8 showing, and Chris Sullivan racked up 12 points shooting 5-for-8. Jeremy Dennis led the Broncos' defense as he tallied 10 rebounds in the contest. The sophomore also contributed eight points.

CPP's nationally-leading defense limited the Pioneers to a 38.2% shooting throughout both halves. The second half showed a whole new Pioneer offense as they shot 53.1%, a far cry from their first half 17.4%. The Broncos' 91 points proves to be the highest single-game total since the 2011-12 season.

Underneath the basket, the Green and Gold were the far superior team as they tallied 54 points and stunted the Pioneers' momentum by limiting them to 10.

CPP's bench was a strong contributor as well as 28 points were made from the non-starters. Each member of the hometown squad added points in the contest with Faison topping out at 24, and Francois Tchoyi bringing up the rear with a still strong six points.

After the Broncos scored the first point on a Taylor three 20 seconds into the first half, CPP never looked back. Coach Greg Kamansky's squad held the lead the entire game and even proceeded to go on an 18 point run in the first half.

In the second half, with the clock reading 7:39, the Broncos reached their largest spread as they led the Pioneers by 42 points.

The Broncos will return to action at the start of the New Year as they play visitor to Cal State San Bernardino with a 7:30 pm game at Coussoulis Arena. The Coyotes own an overall 3-4 mark so far this year.
