Broncos to Finish CCAA Play on the Road

POMONA, Calif. - With Wednesday's NCAA regional ranking placing the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team at No. 7 in the West, the Broncos look to their final weekend of conference play. CPP currently sits at third place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and will take to the road to challenge the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino and the Humboldt State Lumberjacks.
 
The Broncos have amassed a 16-4 tally in CCAA play and an 18-6 mark on the season thus far. CSUSB also owns an 18-6 record on the season but land just behind CPP with a 14-6 mark in conference play.
 
Jada Blackwell and Ariel Marsh continue to show tremendous offensive skill for the Broncos as they sit at first and third in the conference, respectively, in points per game. Ashley Lovett continues to be the most efficient member of the CPP team, landing at second place in CCAA with a 56.3 shooting percentage from the field.
 
Lauren Goecke and Tyler Woods have secured third and first place in the conference with 3.8 and 3.7 assists per game, respectively.
 
The Broncos have amassed a 46.0 shooting percentage, leading the CCAA in the category. They also rank second in field goals made, assists, and points per game.
 
CSUSB's Brianna Harden averages 9.5 rebounds per game, which places her at second in the category, just a couple spots ahead of Lovett with her 8 per game. Another Coyote, Alexcia Mack sits just one spot ahead of Blackwell with a three point shooting percentage of 40.2.
 
Humboldt State continues to lead the conference with an overall 22-3 tally, complete with an 18-2 mark in CCAA play. The last time the squads played was Jan. 23, when the Broncos dealt HSU an 85-52 upset the marked the 'Jacks first regular season loss.
 
A member of the Lumberjacks' squad, Jae Shin, leads the conference with a 46 shooting percentage from the three point line.
 
Postseason Picture
The top six CCAA teams will advance to the conference tournament to be held in Stockton from March 5 through March 7 and the Broncos have clinched a spot in that event. The NCAA Division II Tournament bracket will be unveiled on Sunday, March 8, with the top West Region squads earning spots.
