ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team completed a four-game sweep of Dixie State on Sunday, picking up a 6-4 win in the series finale.
Â
The Broncos improve to 4-0 while the Red Storm falls to 0-4. CPP returns to action on Friday with a 5 p.m. road game at Azusa Pacific. The home opener for the Broncos will be Saturday with a 12 p.m. first pitch.

Right-hander
Cody Ponce got his first start of the 2015 season on Sunday, going four solid innings on a predetermined pitch count. It marked his 10th career victory.
CPP took a 6-1 lead into the later innings but a late rally from Dixie closed the gap to 6-4. That's when star reliever
J.J. Franklin took over, shutting down the Red Storm in the ninth to earn his 11th career save. That set a new school record, breaking the previous mark set in 1966.
Dixie jumped out to a 1-0 lead Sunday but the Broncos bounced back with a big five-run rally in the top of the third inning.
Jonathon Reynoso opened it with a leadoff double and after a
Matt Muñoz sacrifice bunt, CPP put together three-straight RBI hits off the bats of
Ryan Webberley,
Kyle Garlick and
Michael Zidek.
With two outs in that same inning,
Michael Erb lined a single to bring in two more runs and push the Broncos' edge to 5-1.Â
In the fourth inning, CPP tacked on one more run when Munoz knocked his first career homerun as a Bronco.
Junior transfer
Richard McWilliams put together a stellar effort in relief of Ponce, going two innings without allowing a hit or run. After CPP ran into trouble in the eighth inning, Franklin entered and shutdown Dixie with 1.2 scoreless innings to wrap up the win.
