31 Broncos Named to CCAA All-Academic Teams

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) released its Spring All-Academic Awards list last week and Cal Poly Pomona had a strong showing with 31 student-athletes named to the list.

There were a total of 210 student-athletes from the 12 schools in the CCAA. CPP had the second highest number of athletes honored with only Chico State receiving more (33).

"It is a pleasure knowing that Bronco Athletics has such a dedicated student body," said Assistant Athletic Director Scott Tsuji. "We of the administration are proud of our student-athletes and understand the difficulty that comes with being on a team and keeping good grades."

The CCAA Spring All-Academic Awards is the third and final seasonal honor presented to conference athletes; earlier, fall and winter sports were spotlighted. Later this summer the CCAA will hand out a set of All-Academic Awards that includes all student-athletes competing during the 2014-15 academic year.

To qualify for the latest CCAA All-Academic accolades, student-athletes must be of at least sophomore standing (including graduate students), have a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average or better, and have competed in a CCAA-sponsored sport during the spring season.

CPP had a conference high 12 men and 14 women from track & field named to the list. The remaining five athletes were from baseball.
