POMONA, Calif. - In addition to winning the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Commissioner's Cup in 2014-15, Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics also enjoyed plenty of academic success as well.

The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA) announced the 2014-15 recipients of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Awards last week and 32 Broncos were featured on the list of honorees. 

"The list of 2014-15 academic achievements continues to grow," said Scott Tsuji, the CPP Assistant Athletics Director of Student Services. "We are extremely proud of the dedication that our student-athletes showed in the classroom this past year. Maintaining a top grade point average while balancing the challenging athletics schedule is an impressive feat."

A total of 149 institutions and a record number of student-athletes (7,442) are being recognized for the 2014-15 Academic Achievement Awards. 

"The D2 ADA continuously strives to recognize the outstanding student-athletes in our division, and we would like to thank and congratulate the institutions that took part in honoring the 2014-15 Academic Achievement Award winners," stated D2ADA President Fran Reidy, director of athletics at Saint Leo University.  "As an additional platform to showcase outstanding student-athletes, this award allows the D2ADA to highlight the efforts in the classroom, as well as on the playing field."

In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the student-athlete must: 1) have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale; 2) have attended a minimum of two years of college level work; and 3) have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year.
