Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Early Goal Gives @cppwsoccer First Loss

DENVER, Colo.- The Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team was dealt their first loss of the 2015 season as an early goal by the Metro State Roadrunners carried the home team to a victory.

With the loss, the CPP squad now holds a 2-1-0 tally thus far in 2015. The Roadrunners earned their second win of the season.

The momentum got started early for the Metro State squad, as a fifth minute goal provided them with a 1-0 lead.  Otherwise, the first half showed even numbers across the board for the two teams as CPP shot five times and MSUD shot six.

Both keepers provided their team with a pair of saves in the half and both teams attempted two corner kicks.

At halftime the game stood with the Roadrunners on top and despite seven shots from the Green and Gold in the second half, it would remain that way. Ricki Ives provided the Broncos with a total of six saves in the match.

As with the first half, the second showed nearly identical numbers. Both teams shot seven times, Ives had four saves while Metro's keeper collected five and the teams each had one corner kick.

The Broncos' next game will take place on Sunday as they stay in Denver and head to the Regis Soccer and Lacrosse Pitch to challenge the Regis Rangers. In last season's meeting, the Broncos earned a 3-0 victory.

On Sept. 18, the Broncos will open their California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) season as they play visitor to the UC San Diego Tritons.
