CPP improves to an overall tally of 5-4, with a 1-0 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The Toros now hold a 2-7 mark, while sporting a 0-1 CCAA standing.
Â
The first set showed both teams emerge strong, an immediate two-point lead by the Toros was not long-lived as the Green and Gold pushed right back and recorded two points of their own. From that 2-2 tie, the set would see ten more ties but ultimately the Broncos would out score the Toros 7-2 in the final run of the set and go on to take it 25-21.
Â
Set number two saw CPP jump out to an early lead, outscoring the visiting CSUDH squad 7-3, but not being able to hold that lead. The Toros pushed back and were able to tie things up at 10-10. From that point the scoreboard saw six more ties until the Broncos were able to finish the game on a 9-1 spree. With that set, the Green and Gold led two sets to none.
Â
What would be the third and final set proved to be the most exciting of the evening. Neither team wanted to relinquish the lead, and thus there were eight lead changes in the set. Both squads were able to put together some impressive runs, with the Broncos tallying three sprees of three or more points and the Toros posting three as well with a five-point run as their top. The score was tied up at 23-23 on the board and the visitors took a short lived lead. Three-straight by the Broncos ended the set and match with a 26-24 score.
Â
CPP showed some offensive talent as
Deanna Blaine led the Green and Gold with 10 kills,
Nicoletta Stork tallied nine, and newcomer
Desi Martin posted five.
Zoe Herrera posted a pair of service aces while Martin and
Samantha Figueroa each tallied one. Martin,
Christen Williams, and Stork each tallied four blocks. Herrera also led the squad with 17 total digs.
