ANAHEIM, Calif. - Just prior to Friday's first pitch between the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Houston Astros, the 2016 Cal Poly Pomona baseball team was honored on the field at Angel Stadium.
The majority of the Broncos' 2015 MLB draftees attended, including
Peter Bayer (Tampa Bay Rays),
Michael Koval (Seattle Mariners) and
Jared James (Atlanta Braves). Joining the team on the field were University President
Soraya Coley and Vice President of Student Affairs
Lea Jarnagin.
The Broncos are led by head coach
Randy Betten, who also competed in the Angels' minor league system during his playing days. CPP baseball has advanced to the NCAA Division II World Series in each of the last two seasons, placing third nationally in both 2015 and 2016.
Through CPP's university Facebook page, the recognition was featured with live video.
University photographer Tom Zasadzinski also produced a
Facebook photo gallery of the team's visit to Angel Stadium.
