SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Despite taking nationally-ranked Cal State San Bernardino to a 27-25 score in the opening set on Tuesday, the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team dropped a 3-0 result on the road.
Andrea Bosnic and
Deanna Blaine collected eight kills apiece while
Alina Smith and
Kalea Vizmanos split the setting duties, earning assist totals of 15 and 12 respectively. In the dig category,
Amanda Jaramillo posted 17 and
Samantha Figueroa added 15.
Up next for the Broncos will be a four-match homestand. On Friday, CPP will host Cal State Dominguez Hills at 7 p.m. The first 100 CPP students to enter Kellogg Arena will receive a free tumbler courtesy of University Housing Services.
On Tuesday in the opening set against the Coyotes, CPP trailed 23-20. The Broncos put together a 4-0 run that featured three
Alexandra Gresham kills. CSUSB escaped set point and finished with the 27-25 result.
The Coyotes' momentum carried over into the second frame as the host squad took a 9-5 lead.
Kristen Hamlin and Blaine delivered kills on the next two points, splitting the CSUSB advantage in half. The Coyotes used a 5-0 run to gain a sizeable margin and closed out the set with a 25-17 score.
In the third set, CSUSB cruised to a 25-11 result.
Desi Martin and
Kyla Washko delivered the Broncos' final two kills of the match.
