Hall Lifts @CPPWBB to 69-48 Win in Montana

BILLINGS, Mont. – With Marshanique Hall collecting 18 points to fuel the offense, Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball cruised to a 69-48 victory over Black Hills State on Friday to start the Yellowjacket Classic.

On day one of the two-day tournament, Hall knocked down four three-pointers and finished with the team-high 18 points. The senior from Fairfield only needed 19 minutes of action to boost the CPP offense off the bench.

The Broncos are now 2-1 overall this season while Black Hills State falls to 0-2. On Saturday, CPP will challenge host Montana State Billings at 4 p.m. Pacific (5 p.m. Mountain).

As a team on Friday, the Broncos knocked down 11 of their 26 attempts from beyond the arc. The CPP defense forced 25 turnovers from BHSU. Freshman Dominique Dotson led the way, grabbing five steals and adding 10 points.

Priscilla Brooks, a junior from Riverside, tallied a team-high 10 rebounds and contributed eight points in just 15 minutes of action.

CPP jumped out to an early 11-3 lead after Jackie Ricketson knocked down a triple less than three minutes in. Monay Mariscal scored the final basket of the first quarter and that gave the Broncos a 22-16 edge.

CPP's advantage spread to 42-30 heading into halftime. The Yellowjackets outscored the Broncos 12-9 in the third quarter to trim the gap back to single digits. After Erin Hagan finished that frame with a layup, CPP carried that momentum into the fourth and final quarter.

Hall sank three-consecutive three-pointers to raise the Broncos' lead to 60-42 in a matter of minutes. The final score settled at 69-48 in favor of CPP.
