Broncos, Gators to Battle Friday Night in SF

POMONA, Calif. – After topping UC San Diego at home on Tuesday, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team will travel to play San Francisco State on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

The game will be televised on Comcast Network, a regional cable network covering Northern and Central California. Friday's doubleheader in San Francisco will also be streamed on www.comcasthometown.com.

The Broncos own an overall record of 3-4 while going 1-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) so far. The Gators are 2-5 overall and Friday will mark their first conference game.

In the team's most recent action, CPP defeated UCSD by a score of 65-56. It continued a trend of defensive success for the Broncos, who are limiting opponents to an average of 58.4 points per game – the lowest mark in the CCAA.

Rebounding margin has helped CPP, a squad that is averaging 8.2 more rebounds than its opponents in each contest. The Broncos are 0-4 so far this year in away games but they're looking to change that on Friday. CPP is now 1-0 at home and 2-0 in neutral-site contests.

With 10 assists in Tuesday's victory, Jackie Ricketson has moved up to No. 7 on the CCAA leaderboard with an average of 3.9 per game. Priscilla Brooks ranks fourth in rebounding average (8.4) while Chelsea Waddy-Blow is at No. 2 in free throw percentage (.852).

The home win over the Tritons marked career coaching win No. 260 for CPP head coach Danelle Bishop. She owns a mark of 122-64 with the Broncos.

After Friday's road game at SF State, the Broncos will turn their attention to a three-game homestand that will start Saturday, Dec. 10 against Cal State San Marcos.
