POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team will try to bounce back from a tough overtime loss last week, hosting Cal State East Bay on Thursday night in Kellogg Arena with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
Last Week: The Broncos played a hard fought game against Cal State San Marcos on Saturday but a three-pointer with eight seconds remaining in overtime gave the game to the Cougars 67-64.
Highlights: The best defense in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) will get back out on the court Thursday with CPP holding their opponents to the lowest scoring mark at 57.7 points per game.
Allowing an opponent shooting percentage of .364, Pomona (4-5, 2-1 CCAA) ranks fourth in conference in that category while giving up the fewest rebounds per game at 31.2.
Juniors
Chelsea Waddy-Blow and
Priscilla Brooks have been the powerhouses for the Broncos so far this season. Waddy-Blow leads the team in points scored, averaging just under 12-points per contest while Brooks is averaging 8.1 points and a team high 8.4 rebounds per game, the second highest rebounding average in the conference.
Senior
Marshanique Hall adds eight-points per game and sophomore
Jackie Ricketson ranks sixth in the CCAA in assists per game at 3.7 while recording a team high 14 steals.
Last season, East Bay earned a season sweep of the Broncos, claiming victories in both contests in 2015-16.
