CHICO, Calif. – A pair of Cal Poly Pomona Track and Field athletes made their way up to Chico this week to compete in the 31st Chico Multi-Event Classic. The multi was held Feb. 25 through 26.
 
Making his way up to the meet to represent the CPP men's track and field team was Jacob Adler. The sophomore competed in the Decathlon and placed at No. 10 overall. The 10 events that he competed in were the 100, long jump, shotput, high jump, 400, 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500.
 
In the 100, Adler ran a 12.20. His distance in the long jump was 5.44m. He placed fifth in the shotput with a distance thrown of 10.41 m. His high jump resulted in a 1.59 m jump, and in the final event on day one, the sophomore posted a 56.59 400 m.
 
Day two came with a whole new set of obstacles as he finished the 110 hurdles with a time of 18.03. He also was able to reach a 26.75 m mark with the discus, vault to a height of 4.45 meters, throw the javelin 32.75 meters, and finished the 1500 in seventh overall with a time of 4:55.20

Representing the CPP women's track and field team was Deirdre Mercado. The junior transfer from Mt. SAC finished the multi at No. 11 overall. She competed in the heptathlon for the Green and Gold.  

The heptathlon events are the 100 hurdles, high jump, shotput, 200, long jump, javelin, and 800. In the 100 hurdles, Mercado ran a 17.99. The high jump saw the junior earn a 1.43m height. In the shot put, Mercado earned third place with a 10.35m distance. The next event for Mercado was the 200 and she finished with a 28.54. Long jump was next and the Valinda native jumped 4.54 m. Javelin came next and Mercado threw for a distance of 31.81m. Finally came the 800, and she posted a 2:50.42.
