@CPPMBB Secures 68-62 Victory Over Sonoma

POMONA, Calif. - The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team improves to a 17-4 mark on the season as they topped the Sonoma State Seawolves in the Wolves' Den on Friday. The final score in the contest was 68-62 in the Broncos' favor.
 
The 17-4 overall tally includes a 10-4 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Drawing the loss in the contest, the Seawolves fall to a conference record of 7-7 while owning a 12-8 mark thus far this season.
 
With another double-double, senior Jordan Faison led the Broncos on both offense and defense. He tallied 16 total points as he sank seven baskets and added a pair of free throws. He also tallied two offensive and eight defensive rebounds to finish with 10 in the contest.
 
Joining Faison in the double-digit point category was Jeremy Dennis. The sophomore collected 11 points of his own as he sank 3-of-6 shots from the field, including two from beyond the arc, and a pair of free throws.
 
Faison, Dennis, and Barry Bell each registered three assists in the contest. Bell even added nine points of his own and both he and Dennis recorded four rebounds. Quentin Taylor and Daylan Lawrence each collected eight points, Jordan Ogundiran came in with seven points, Chris Sullivan sank three shots for six points of his own, and closing out the CPP scorers was Francois Tchoyi with three points.
 
The Broncos limited the hometown Seawolves to 40.4% shooting from the field while themselves shooting 50%. CPP also added 18 points to their side of the scoreboard off of turnovers and limited the SSU squad to just 11.
 
Cal Poly Pomona's bench tallied 16 points in the contest, and 30 of CPP's 68 points came from inside the paint.
 
The game was back-and-forth for a while as the game saw 10 total ties. The Broncos pushed back hard as they pulled even with the home team on seven separate occasions. The Green and Gold also doubled the Seawolves' fast break points 12-6.
 
CPP will return to action on Saturday as they stay on the road to challenge the San Francisco State Gators. SFSU topped the Humboldt State Jacks 85-59 in Friday and now sit with a 6-8 conference record en route to a 12-8 showing on the season.
