FRISCO, Texas – Jordan Faison of the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team competed in the 2016 Reese's Division II College All-Star Game held in Frisco, Texas on March 25. The teams were released by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) a few days prior.
The Lake Forest native was one of just 10 players selected to represent the West in the game and the only player chosen from the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Heading up the team was renowned head coach Gene Iba. In the head coaching role, Iba coached at Houston Baptist, Baylor, and Pittsburgh State.
A 6-7 forward, Faison made his presence known on the court. He sank 8-of-13 shots taken in the game, including a three pointer and a pair of free throws, for a total of 19 points in just 22 minutes played. The Broncos' big man led the West with seven rebounds in the game and also added three assists to his teammates.
The West fell in the game, 120-107, but Faison was one of five squad members to tally double-digit points. His point tally trailed only Mark Ogden, Jr., a forward from Dixie State.
In the season, the CPP squad finished with a 22-8 overall record and the team's fourth-consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason, a program-first. The Broncos finished the regular season third in the conference with a 14-6 mark against fellow CCAA opponents.
Faison was chosen as a member of the All-CCAA First Team for his stellar performance throughout the season. His numbers landed him at numerous spots across the conference leaderboards. He also locked down a number of spots in the CCAA record books.
About the National Association of Basketball CoachesLocated in Kansas City, Missouri, the NABC was founded in 1927 by Forrest "Phog" Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches. All members of the NABC are expected to uphold the core values of being a Guardian of the Game by bringing attention to the positive aspects of the sport of basketball and the role coaches play in the academic and athletic lives of today's student-athletes. The four core values of being a Guardian of the Game are advocacy, leadership, service and education. Additional information about the NABC, its programs and membership, can be found at
